Lesson 3
Get things done with Google Workspace
Google Workspace is a collection of free tools that help you email, write, store files, schedule events and video chat — all in one place.
What is Google Workspace?
- A free Google account gives you Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs and Meet
- Everything is stored online, so you can reach it from any device
- Your work saves automatically — no need to remember to press Save
- You can share photos, documents and calendars with family or friends
Gmail: email made simple
- Look for the bold sender name before opening a message
- Tap the star to mark important emails so they are easy to find
- Use the search bar at the top to find old messages quickly
- Never click links or attachments from senders you do not recognize
Google Drive: your digital filing cabinet
- Files and photos live in Drive instead of filling up your device
- Create folders by year, person or topic to stay organized
- Tap and hold a file to share it with a trusted contact
- The Trash folder keeps deleted items for 30 days in case you change your mind
Google Calendar: never miss a date
- Add doctor visits, birthdays and family calls as events
- Set a reminder so the phone alerts you before the event
- Share your calendar with a family member if you want help keeping track
- Color-code events so appointments stand out from social plans
Google Docs & Google Meet
- Docs is like a digital typewriter that saves as you write
- You can share a Doc so others can read or help edit it
- Meet lets you have face-to-face video calls from your browser or app
- For Meet, find a quiet spot and make sure your camera is pointed at you
Try this today
Open Gmail and send a short email to a friend or family member. Say hello and ask how their day is going.
Stay safe
Google will never call you and ask for your password. If someone claims to be from Google and pressures you, hang up or close the message. When in doubt, ask a trusted person for help.
